Everyone tends to like/ believe that mental health and mental illnesses are the same thing, but they are very different in many associations.

- Mental health- There are many ways to think of mental health, but the meaning of mental health is quite complex. Mental health is not just the absence of mental illness. they define it as a state of well-being because in which each and every individual is able to realise his or her own potential, can cope with all the normal stresses in each individuals lives, can work productively and affectionately, and is able to make there own contribution on his or her community.
Mental health is about:
- How people feel about themselves e.g. the way we see ourselves.
- How people feel about others around them.
- How people are able to meet the demands of the life they live.
- Mental illness- There are many ways to think of mental illnesses, and your probably thinking that its bad to have one, but most people in our society/ community didn't decide to have this illness therefore its not there fault they are a bit different. Mental illness can be defined as the experiencing of server and distressing phycological symptoms to the extent that normal functioning in the brain is simply impaired and sometime you are unable to control how you think.
Examples of such symptoms include:
- Anxiety
- Depressed moods (mood swings)
- Obsessional thinking
- Delusions and Hallucinations
- Sleep disturbance

The main thing that is different between mental health and mental illnesses is: A fundamental difference between mental health and mental illness is that everyone in the world has some level of mental health all of the time, just like physical health, whereas it is possible to be without mental illness.
